Self-Training

Most AI waits to be trained. This one raises its hand.

What it is

When your AI meets a question your knowledge can’t answer — or honestly tells a customer “I don’t know” — Iris doesn’t let the moment vanish into a log. It captures the question, folds the rephrasings of the same thing into one clear ask, and queues it for you: a quiet count on the agent’s orb, a “Waiting for you” strip in the Trainer, and at most one email digest previewing what’s waiting — on by default, off in one click.

One tap starts a guided session. The AI asks its questions one at a time; you answer in plain words — type them, or just talk, the mic is right there. Each answer becomes a proposed change you approve, exactly like every other edit to your AI: a diff, applied only when you say so.

Then the loop closes for good: every approved answer becomes knowledge and its own permanent test case. The next time you change anything — tone, rules, articles — that test re-runs automatically, so a question you’ve answered once can never quietly break later. The compounding loop, with the hardest part inverted: instead of you guessing what to write, your AI tells you exactly what it’s missing — and then stands guard over your answer forever.

How you’d use it

D2C brand

A new product drops and unleashes questions your help center has never seen. By Monday they’re waiting as five clear asks, repeats already folded together. You answer them over coffee — by voice, between unboxing returns — and the launch’s second week runs itself.

Course creator

Between recordings, the orb shows a 3. Tap it, and the AI asks: “Students want to know if the certificate expires — what should I say?” You say the answer the way you’d tell a student. It writes the change, shows you the diff, done.

SaaS team

The honest “I don’t know”s become the spec for your missing docs — real questions, ranked by reality. And because every answer ships with its own test, the fix you make today survives every configuration change you make next quarter.

Busy founder

You don’t have to remember to check anything. At most one email arrives, previewing the questions waiting — enough to decide whether it’s a two-minute session now or a next-week thing. Not your style? The off switch is one click, in the email itself.

Get more out of it

  1. Answer like a person, not a policy writer

Plain words are the input format. Say what you’d tell the customer; the AI does the formalizing and shows you the result as a diff before anything applies. Your job is the knowledge, not the phrasing.

  2. Talk when typing is the tax

The guided session takes voice. Answering five questions out loud takes about two minutes — the difference between “I’ll do it later” and done.

  3. Trust the clustering

Twelve customers phrase the same doubt twelve ways; you see it once. One answer covers every phrasing — including the ones nobody has typed yet.

  4. Let the tests pile up

Every answer becomes a golden test that re-runs on every future change. A few months in, your AI sits a full exam of everything you’ve ever taught it — automatically, every time you touch a setting.

  5. Keep the digest on

It’s capped at one email, with a preview of what’s waiting — a nudge, not a newsletter. Turn it off only if you already live in the Trainer; the queue doesn’t go anywhere either way.
